Welcome to my website!

I am a Clinical psychologist with a doctoral degree and am in private practice, providing psychoanalytical therapy and counselling.
My name is Anna Belozer. I am residing in the center of Madrid. I am here for those of you who wish to improve the quality of your daily life, to get a better understanding of your feelings and life goals, or to improve personal relationships. I am providing individual therapy and counselling for adults, adolescents and couples. I speak English, Spanish and Russian. Born in St. Petersburg, I have lived in France, Switzerland and Latvia.

I've been in private practice since 2011. My previous experience embraces academic, clinical and research areas. You may read below about my professional background and training.

I believe that intensive life-long professional training and supervision are key factors for successful practice.
Training

Postdoctoral training:

I have received advanced training in Eating Disorders, Compulsions & Addictions at the William Alanson White Institute for Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology in New York City. My training also includes the Foundation Course at the Institute of Psychoanalysis in London.
I have been trained as well in the integrative counselling and CBT, methods of which I apply during my work.


Doctoral training:
I received my doctorate and Master's degrees in clinical psychology from Saint-Petersburg State University, Russia. I had teaching experience in the First Pavlov State Medical University in St. Petersburg.

Pre-doctoral education:
Prior to the psychological studies I received my Master's degree in linguistics being qualified as a lecturer of English and Spanish languages.

Clinical, Academic and Research Experience

Clinical experience. Mental hospital
As a clinical psychologist at the Crisis department of the Pavlov Psychiatric Hospital in St. Petersburg (Russia), I worked with severely mentally disturbed patients with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar and borderline disorders, OCD, psychosomatic disorders as well as with individuals who have gone through traumatic loss, suicidal attempt or sexual abuse. I completed neuropsychological assessment for various neuropsychiatric, neurological and medical disorders, provided counselling and psycho-educational trainings for patients and their relatives, helping them to better their awareness about severe mental diseases and to establish efficient communication pathways.
Academic experience. Medical University
As Assistant Professor, I lectured in the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology at the First Pavlov State Medical University, St. Petersburg (Russia). I delivered scientific lectures, seminars and trainings to medical students in general and medical psychology, and also presented talks and abstracts for scientific conferences.
Research experience
For several years I worked in the international clinical research companies. I completed dissertation research focused on cognitive and affective disorders in cancer patients. My doctoral research was supported by 13 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. See the section "Resources" on this website to access the publications. In my private practice I am grounded on the principles of evidence-based medicine. It means that I read on a daily basis the results of new research completed, participate in the scientific seminars, conferences, discussing clinical outcomes of treatment with senior colleagues.
